Ruka Trek and Hard Trek Café opened up in winter 2022.
We aim to offer straight forward food with norther twist and premium outdoor activities for private groups at Ruka-Kuusamo region and beyond! Not to mention our café-bar-restaurant-gasthaus combination that Ruka haven't seen yet.
Ruka Trek is local family company and its Managing Director is Antti Ratia.

Taking Care of the Environment
Ruka Trek moved to the current premises in 2022. Ruka Trek and Hard Trek Café is a combination that introduce a new customer service concept in Ruka. A true trekker's house. And we try our best to leave as small envirionmental footprint as possible.
Low Carbon Materials
Ruka Trek's new house has a CLT timber frame and the main building materials made of responsibly sourced and certified wood products. So the building itself will operate as carbon storage for its entire life cycle.
Renewable Energy
Our HQ will use only CO2 free energy and part of it comes from our own solar power plant. Our premises are equipped with battery loading stations for electric cars and bikes. So while you enjoy your refreshing brake at the Hard Trek Café or one of our tours, you can load up your vehicle using renewable energy.
Waste Management
Our waste management guidelines start from the sourcing of goods and gear. Basic rule is that if possible the materials sourced are always receyclable or from renewable sources.
We also aim that whatever we use or consume, we use it to the maximum. And when the lifecycle ends the materials are recycled into new materials or into new usage.
